We traveled to Stillwater to take one of our dogs for emergency treatment on Tuesday this week 2/20/18. We stayed overnight at the Wyndham. Tuesday evening we both ate in the grill at the hotel and then the next morning we ate from the breakfast bar. We drove home from Stillwater to Amarillo on Wednesday afternoon. In the middle of the night, Wednesday into Thursday, my wife started vomiting at 3 am and has been nauseous and sick ever since. Myself I had a short span of fever and then vomiting. As of November 24, there have been 63 laboratory-confirmed cases of Salmonella Soahanina, Sundsvall and Oranienburg illness linked to this outbreak in the following provinces: British Columbia (12), Ontario (12), Quebec (35), Prince Edward Island (2) and Newfoundland and Labrador (2). 17 individuals... See More have been hospitalized and one death has been reported. Individuals became sick between mid-October and mid-November 2023.
On November 24, 2023, CFIA updated the food recall warning to also include Rudy brand cantaloupes sold between October 10 and November 24, 2023. Additional secondary recalls have been issued for products that were made using recalled cantaloupes and for produce items that were processed alongside recalled cantaloupes.
The investigation is ongoing.

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is collaborating with various health partners to investigate a Salmonella outbreak linked to Malichita brand cantaloupes. As of November 22, there have been 26 laboratory-confirmed cases of Salmonella Soahanina and Sundsvall illness linked to this outbreak in the following provinces: British Columbia (7), Ontario (7), Quebec (8), Prince Edward Island (2) and Newfoundland and Labrador (2). 6 individuals have been hospitalized and no deaths have been reported. Individuals became sick between mid-October and early-November 2023. Additional Salmonella infections are under investigation and more illnesses associated with this outbreak may be confirmed.
Investigations reveal that the consumption of Malichita brand cantaloupe is the likely culprit behind the outbreak. This fact derived from the reports of some affected individuals who admitted to having eaten the cantaloupe before getting sick. Multiple warnings for food recalls were issued, particularly for Malichita brand cantaloupes sold from October 11 to November 14, 2023. The warnings extended to include other fruits processed in proximity to the Malichita brand cantaloupe, such as honeydew, pineapple, watermelon, and various fruit trays.
The U.S. CDC is also investigating an outbreak of Salmonella Sundsvall illnesses linked to cantaloupes that is the same genetic strain as illnesses reported in this outbreak.
Do not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute Malichita brand cantaloupe, any products made with Malichita brand cantaloupe, or any recalled produce. If you are unable to verify the brand of cantaloupe, or if your produce is part of the CFIA recalls, it is advisable to not consume it.

• Shrimp burrito for my wife.
• 3-piece fish ‘n chips for myself.

Pricy for what it was.
~ 5:20pm our food arrived.
My kid immediately didn’t want his meal and... See More only ate French fries and lemon wedges. His “fish sticks” were actually a small order of fish ‘n chips and he described them as “too wiggly” - they were soggy. I am grateful he actually didn’t eat it.
My wife liked her shrimp burrito until the last bite, which she said tasted weird and spit it out.
I was ok with my fish ‘n chips - even though it was indeed soggy - until I let it settle for a few minutes and it never actually settled. We left and after about 30 minutes I started to feel even more nauseous and vomited while shopping at a grocery store.
Went immediately home - another hour drive - and stopped about 4 times along the way so that I could vomit even more. By this time my entire body was aching, especially all of my joints, and my head was pounding.
I ran a fever up to 103.2°f.
Heavy chills, shaking, and sweating.
More vomiting.
Severe headache.
Even my testicles hurt.
Aching pain in hips, knees, ankles, elbows, wrists, jaw, neck.
My eyes hurt so bad.
I had to call out of work the next day and the day after that as well. 2 days lost of pay and the price of the meal down the toilet. The WORST case of food poisoning I have ever had.
