Several students and staff of the Carmalt Elementary School in Pittsburgh have become ill from a possible norovirus outbreak.

The School will be closed Monday to work on the clean of the building and prevent further student and staff infections.

Following the review of a high volume of reports of non-COVID-related illness from students and staff at Pittsburgh Carmalt since Thursday, the District's physician, in consultation with the Allegheny County Health Department, has determined the illness is most likely norovirus.

In case you are experiencing food poisoning symptoms, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance.
