Update December 10th, 2025:
The FDA has concluded its investigation. According to the CDC’s findings, people who became sick had eaten foods or meals that included parsley. Federal, state, and local agencies worked together to conduct interviews, trace the supply chain, and test both products and environmental samples. All samples taken during the investigation tested negative for Cyclospora.
Despite the negative test results, investigators determined that parsley was the most probable source of the outbreak. The parsley associated with the cases was already past its shelf life and no longer on the market. The outbreak has ended, and there is no current threat to public health.

August 13th, 2025:
An outbreak of Cyclospora cayetanensis has sickened 30 people, with the source of the infection yet to be identified. The outbreak, referenced as #1325, is currently active and primarily affects individuals in the United States. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has initiated traceback efforts to determine the source of the contamination.
The outbreak was initially part of a larger investigation but has since been separated into two distinct cases based on epidemiological data from state partners and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The previous case count for the combined outbreak (#1313) was adjusted from 61 to 41 for the first outbreak, and the current outbreak, #1325, now stands at 30 cases. The FDA is actively working to identify the product linked to the illnesses.
The problem was discovered through routine surveillance and data analysis conducted by the CDC and state health departments. The separation of the outbreaks into two distinct cases was based on detailed epidemiological data, which indicated different sources of infection. The FDA has begun traceback procedures to identify the specific product responsible for the current outbreak, with inspections and sampling efforts underway to prevent further cases.
