Devon Cliffs Holiday Park in Exmouth, UK linked to Suspected norovirus outbreak

2 years ago source exmouthjournal.co.uk

Outbreak

EX8 England, United Kingdom

A suspected outbreak of norovirus has been reported at the Devon Cliffs holiday park in Sandy Bay. Around 400 staff members who were training ahead of the park's opening to holidaymakers on March 10 were instructed to leave the park, while a small number of team members who are feeling unwell remain and are isolating in caravans provided. A spokesman from Devon Cliffs holiday park is in contact with the local health and safety authorities and NHS England is satisfied with the park's reports and the measures they have taken.

At this time, it is unclear how many people are feeling unwell and if anyone has tested positive for norovirus. The Royal Devon NHS trust is continuing to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.

Norovirus is very contagious and is easily transmitted from person to person most through the oral/fecal route. Considering that hand sanitizer does NOT work against this virus, it is important to wash your hands with soap frequently. Use bleach to clean and disinfect surfaces.

In case you experience vomiting, diarrhea, and nausea, report it now. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
