May 14th, 2025:
The FDA is currently investigating an outbreak of Salmonella Montevideo, linked to an unidentified product. As of now, 17 people have fallen ill across various locations.
The outbreak, which was first reported on May 14, 2025, is still ongoing with the FDA actively working to identify the source of the pathogen. The product linked to the illnesses has not yet been identified, making it difficult to contain the spread. The total case count stands at 17, but this number may rise as the investigation continues.
The problem was discovered through routine FDA sampling. The agency initiated traceback investigations to determine the source of the contamination.
In case you are experiencing Salmonella symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
