Gastrointestinal Outbreak at Summerset Manor's Horizon Household

1 year ago source princeedwardisland.ca business

15 Frank Mellish Street, Summerside, C1N 0H3 Prince Edward Island, Canada

Summerset Manor in Summerside has declared a gastrointestinal (GI) illness outbreak at its Horizon household, adding to the recent outbreaks at Villa familiale and Maison d’amis households. The outbreak, which has affected an undisclosed number of residents, has led to the implementation of strict visitor policies. Each household is now limited to one visitor at a time, in an effort to control the spread of the illness. The Manor has not disclosed the exact pathogen causing the outbreak, but the symptoms are consistent with a typical GI illness, including stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting.

The problem was discovered when a higher than usual number of residents reported feeling unwell with gastrointestinal symptoms. The Manor's medical team identified the pattern and declared the outbreak. Visitors are now being asked to follow current infection control measures and to stay away if they are feeling unwell. The Manor is working closely with local health authorities to manage the situation and prevent further spread of the illness.

If you or a loved one are harmed or experiencing any symptoms, it is important to report it. Reporting can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
