8515 124th Avenue Northeast, Kirkland, 98033 Washington, United States

A Norovirus outbreak has been linked to the McDonald's restaurant located at 8515 124th Ave NE, Kirkland. 3 individuals have reported sickness after consuming food from this location between October 23 and October 26, 2024.

Despite the outbreak, no restaurant workers were identified as being sick. Norovirus, known for its easy transmission through contaminated food, surfaces, and person-to-person contact, can often present with mild symptoms or none at all, making carriers unknowingly contagious.

Upon inspection, no unsafe food practices that could contribute to the spread of Norovirus, such as improper hand washing or bare hand contact with food, were identified. The restaurant was revisited on November 1, 2024, with instructions to follow Norovirus cleaning protocols and complete a deep cleaning of the premises. Additionally, restaurant management was reminded of the requirement to prevent sick workers from working until they are symptom-free for at least 48 hours.

Laboratory testing was conducted on two of the three individuals who reported sickness, with both testing positive for Norovirus. The investigation into this outbreak has now been completed.
