Celebrity Cruises' ship, Celebrity Eclipse, experienced a gastrointestinal illness outbreak during its December 20-28, 2025 voyage. The illness affected 3.1% of passengers and 0.7% of the crew. In response, Celebrity Cruises implemented increased cleaning and disinfection procedures, isolated ill individuals, and collected stool specimens for testing. The VSP remotely monitored the situation and reviewed the ship's outbreak response and sanitation procedures.
The problem was discovered when passengers and crew reported their symptoms to the onboard medical center, which allowed for quick detection of the outbreak.
