Potential Hepatitis A exposure linked to Zayde’s NYC Deli in Memphis

4 years ago source shelbytnhealth.com

6560 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, 38138 Tennessee, United States

The Shelby County Health Department informed a case of hepatitis A has been diagnosed in an employee who recently handled food at Zayde’s Deli located at 6560 Poplar Avenue. This employee worked during a period of time when ill or infectious and potentially exposed customers to the virus.

Exposure may have occurred in persons that consumed food or drink at Zayde’s Deli or consumed take-out meals from the restaurant between June 29th and July 7th, the health department advises them to receive a hepatitis A vaccination as soon as possible, as a preventative measure.

The Health Department is offering hepatitis A vaccination free of charge to those who may have been exposed at this restaurant.

If you are experiencing Hepatitis A symptoms like fever, jaundice, nausea, clay-colored stool, dark urine, malaise, abdominal discomfort, or vomiting, it is important to report it. It can help to detect and resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance.
