Rock Wood Fired Pizza in Renton, WA linked to Norovirus outbreak

3 years ago source kingcounty.gov business

830 North 10th Street, Renton, 98057 Washington, United States

Seattle & King County Public Health announced that they are investigating an outbreak of norovirus-like illness associated with vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and chills linked to Rock Wood Fired Pizza located at 830 N 10th St, Renton, WA 98057.

Since February 22, 2022, 12 total cases have been reported, 9 people from 2 separate meal parties reported becoming ill after eating food from the Rock Wood Fired Pizza between February 19 and 20, 2022, and 3 employees who reported symptoms consistent with norovirus dating back to February 20, 2022, but who did not work while sick. No hospitalizations or death are reported at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

Environmental Health investigators revisited the restaurant on February 24 and confirmed proper cleaning and disinfection was completed. The restaurant was reopened on February 24, 2022.

Norovirus is very contagious and is easily transmitted from person to person most through the oral/fecal route. Considering that hand sanitizer does NOT work against this virus, it is important to wash your hands with soap. Use bleach to clean and disinfect surfaces.

In case you are experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, body aches, and chills symptoms, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance.
