Update July 6, 2023From March to June 2023, 31 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Muenchen have been reported from several regions: The capital (17), Central (6), Northern (2), Zealand (5), and Southern Denmark (1). To date, the cause of the outbreak has yet to be determined, the investigation is ongoing.

In March, April and May 2023, 28 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Muenchen have been reported from several regions: The capital (15), Central (5), Northern (2), Zealand (5), and Southern Denmark (1). The bacteria is of the type Salmonella Muenchen. When whole-genome sequencing of the bacteria that were isolated from the patients, it was seen that they were very closely related and all belonged to sequence type 82. To date, the cause of the outbreak has yet to be determined, the investigation is ongoing.

The Central Outbreak Group in Denmark, comprised of members from the Statens Serum Institut, the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, and the DTU Food Institute are investigating a Salmonella Muenchen outbreak. In March and April of 2023, 19 infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Muenchen have been reported from several regions: The capital (9), Central (4), Northern (1), Zealand (4), and Southern Denmark (1). To date, the cause of the outbreak has yet to be determined, the investigation is ongoing.
