Tuco’s Taqueria Garaje in Roanoke, VA - Potential Hepatitis A exposure

3 years ago source vdh.virginia.gov business

416 Salem Avenue Southwest, Roanoke, 24016 Virginia, United States

On Monday, May 23, the Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts (RCHAD) received a new report of an employee of Tuco’s Taqueria Garaje located at 416 Salem Ave. in Roanoke who has been infected with hepatitis A. Based on the inspection and interviews by the health department, it was determined that there is no significant risk of exposure to the public since it was determined the individual did not directly handle food.

Out of an abundance of caution and given the high level of sensitivity to the current hepatitis A outbreak in their community, the Roanoke City Health Department is offering hepatitis A vaccine to anyone who ate at Tuco’s Taqueria Garaje between May 3-15, 2022.

If you are experiencing Hepatitis A symptoms like fever, jaundice, nausea, clay-colored stool, dark urine, malaise, abdominal discomfort, or vomiting, it is important to report it. It can help to detect and resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
