Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady ship linked to a gastrointestinal illness Outbreak

The CDC is investigating a gastrointestinal illness outbreak linked to the Scarlet Lady ship operated by Virgin Voyages with Voyage Dates: October 8–October 13, 2023. Voyage number: 10000687. 66 passengers have reported being ill during the voyage out of a total of 2,198 passengers onboard. Of the 1,163 crew members, 7 have reported being ill during the voyage. The predominant symptoms are abdominal cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea. The causative agent is still unknown.In response to the outbreak, Virgin Voyages and the crew aboard the ship reported the following actions:
- Increased cleaning and disinfection procedures according to their outbreak prevention and response plan.
- Collected stool specimens from gastrointestinal illness cases for testing.
- Isolated ill passengers and crew.

We had the cruise on November 1st and we also got sick, with food poisoning.
