Salmonella Outbreak Investigation Potentially Linked to Tailor Cut Produce Fruit Mix, in NJ, NY, and PA

The CDC last update on this outbreak investigation indicates that 85 additional people have been reported ill. The total of sick people now rises to 96 people in 11 states to date. 27 people have required hospitalization and no deaths have been reported.

According to the latest update by the CDC, 11 people have been reported sick with this Salmonella strain (Minnesota and Pennsylvania). Seven people have required hospitalization and no deaths have been reported.

FDA and the Pennsylvania Department of Health are investigating a Salmonella outbreak in NJ, NY, and PA. Evidence indicate that fruit mix with cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, and grapes from Tailor Cut Produce of North Brunswick, NJ as the potential source of the Salmonella. Tailor Cut Produce reports that their products may be found in restaurants, banquet facilities, hotels, schools and institutional food service establishments in NJ, NY, and PA.
Most people with salmonellosis develop diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. More severe cases of salmonellosis may include a high fever, aches, headaches, lethargy, a rash, blood in the urine or stool, and in some cases may become fatal.
