“Customer visited 02/09/19; 10:00PM; ordered, Chipotle Chicken Melt; Tender Platter; x2 Freestyle Coke. Within hours of exiting cinema, customer endured food poisoning symptoms, cramping; vomiting; loose stool, etc., for several hours. Customer had not consumed any other food on day, prior to order.... See MoreFollowing day, customer contacted cinema to report incident, spoke w/ Nicole; requested full refund, as transaction exhausted, $42.00 A-List Rewards; was advised, must return to cinema, to resolve issue, which is not feasible, as cinema is, 40 miles from customer's address, including approximately, $40.00 worth of tolls. “I went to the movies last night at 7:40 thinking it was safe because the theater room was empty. I got a medium popcorn with butter (they had little cups of butter they gave you behind the counter), a medium drink (filled from the soda flavor machine: I got cherry vanilla coke zero), and a bunch a c... See Morerunch (that was sealed in plastic). The straw for the drink was also behind the counter to help hygene. An hour or two after I got home from the movie (around 11) I ended up getting diarrhea and needing to quickly run to the bathroom multiple times in a short succession. I eventually felt well enough to go to sleep. I woke up the next morning around 7:30 am feeling really nauseous. Around 8 I had a bought of vomiting multiple times in a row. Not too long after that the diarhea came back. Around 9 am I actually was going back and forth between the two in short succession , and then soon after went back to just diarhea. I eventually felt okay enough that I could lay down and rest again and by now I feel a lot better but I still feel kind of queazy/ lightly nauseous and my stomache feels delicate. I also still have slight diarhea now when I go the the bathroom (it's about 7 pm). I haven't eaten anything since yet. See Less”

“It's been a couple years ago but would still likely be true today. I use to go to the movie theater every other week. One of my favorite things was eating a small bag of popcorn with butter flavor, soda, and a hot dog.
Right after the movie would end, I would start to have an upset stomach. By t... See Morehe time I got home, I had diarrhea off and on for about a day and a half.
So the next trip I eliminated the butter flavor. Smae result, just not as severe. I've always been able to eat popcorn at the movies until just a few years ago. I've talked to others who have told me they too could eat the popcorn - until a few years ago,
I believe the main culprit is when the Theater changed from popping their corn with genuine canola oil to using a (probably less expensive) dehydrated (?) type coconut oil. And the butter flavored oil is just another variation of this. And it's not just AMC. I tried the popcorn with no butter flavor at anothe local movie chain, same result.

My one year old son got sick and was puking since yesterday after he consumed them. They were red dragon cotton candy grapes from there.
