See More sauce was sold at Wegman’s grocery stores in Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia between April 3, 2023 and May 16, 2023. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The product can be identified as a mason jar with red pasta sauce, called Diavolo. The only expiration date affected is March 31, 2025, with the code F0589: UPC 077890222409 Jar Code. BEST BY 03/31/25 F0589.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered via consumer complaint that the Wegman’s Italian Classics Diavolo Pasta Sauce containing anchovies was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of anchovies. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in LiDestri Foods’ packaging processes. Consumers who have purchased Wegmans Italian Classics Diavolo pasta sauce with a March 31, 2025 expiration date and code F0589 are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Lancaster Foods has updated their May 5, 2023 Recall notice to add one product (Lancaster Brand Spinach item #41714, “Best If Used By” date April 29, 2023). This recall is due to a possible health risk from Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled products are beyond their “Best If... See More Used By Date”. These products were distributed through retailers and distributors in the states of Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. No related illnesses have been reported to date.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. Consumers with these symptoms should immediately consult their healthcare provider.

Lancaster Foods is recalled a limited quantity of 3 brands of already-expired Robinson Fresh, Lancaster, and Giant brand Kale, Spinach, and Collard Green products produced at the company’s Jessup, Maryland facility. The recall was initiated after notification that a random sample of a single bag of Chopped Kale Greens product with a “BEST IF USED BY May 1, 2023” date collected by the New York Agriculture and Markets Food Safety Division tested positive for the Listeria pathogen.

Products can be identified by using the UPC or Item Number codes and the Best if Used by Dates outlined in the table below. Retailers and distributors have been instructed to ensure the recalled products are removed from all inventories.
