The affected Ding Hao brand “Bean Sprouts” is packaged in a 10-pound flexible plastic bag. The product does not have a production code or sell by date listed on the package.

The presence of Listeria monocytogenes was found in the product following routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets’ food inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by the New York State Food Laboratory.

If you have the recalled product in your home, please do not eat it, throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.

Listeria monocytogenes, is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
