The New York State Agriculture Commissioner, Richard A. Ball, has issued a warning regarding the presence of undeclared peanut allergens in "Tom Brown Roasted Cornmeal", distributed by AB International Market Inc. located at 548 Casanova St, Bronx, NY 10474. Consumers with a serious sensitivity to peanuts could potentially face serious or life-threatening reactions upon consumption of this product.AB International Market's "Tom Brown Roasted Cornmeal" is sold in a 500g plastic container bearing the UPC code of 6732864520199, and labeled with "Batch #TE/TB/12-20, Production date: Dec. 2020, Best Before Dec. 2024". This product is imported from Ghana.
The presence of peanut allergens was discovered during routine sampling and subsequent analysis conducted by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets' food inspectors and the New York State Food Laboratory. The allergens were found to be undeclared on the product label.
Impacted consumers who have purchased the recalled product can return it to the purchase location.
