ALDI USDA Choice Black Angus beef for Carne picada - Public Health alert due to extraneous materials

The FSIS has sounded a public health alert related to a raw beef product that may be contaminated with extraneous material, specifically soft, clear plastic. This product was available in select ALDI grocery stores nationwide. There have been no confirmed reports of injury or illness due to consumption of this product. FSIS is issuing this public health alert to ensure that consumers are aware that this product should not be consumed. A recall was not requested because the product is no longer available for purchase.The beef product was manufactured on July 25, 2023. It comes in 1.5-lb. plastic tray packages labeled “USDA CHOICE BLACK ANGUS BEEF FROM ALDI, BEEF FOR CARNE PICADA” with an expiration date of August 22, 2023. The time stamp ranges between 08:43 and 09:23, having a Julian date of 206. The establishment number Est. 85M can be found on the back label of packages.
The contamination issue came to light when a retail store discovered soft, clear plastic in the product and promptly alerted the FSIS. Thus far, there have been no recorded cases of injuries or illnesses resulting from consumption of the product. However, if symptoms persist, seek medical attention.
FSIS is worried that some of these products may still be in consumers' refrigerators or freezers. It is advisable for those who purchased it to either dispose of it or return it to the outlet of purchase.
