4 years ago •source fsis.usda.gov
United States
The FSIS announced the recall of approximately 1,634 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) jerky products by Boyd Specialties, LLC because they may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products. The multiple jerky products were produced on February 23, 2022. The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 40269” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Alabama, California, Connecticut, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Texas. The list of recalled products is on the image below, and the full list of labels can be found on the link below.
FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ pantries. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, persons with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns. Less commonly, persons outside these risk groups are affected. Persons in the higher-risk categories who experience flu-like symptoms within two months after eating contaminated food should seek medical care and tell the health care provider about eating the contaminated food.
In case you are experiencing listeria monocytogenes symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance.
