The FSAI announced the recall of EleCare Similac and Alimentum Similac by Abbott due to the possible presence of Salmonella and Cronobacter sakazakii. Both products are foods used for special medical purposes for infants, ordinarily to be used under medical supervision.The recalled products are:
- Elecare Similac (400g) Batch code 28130Z20 Best before 01 October 2022
- Elecare Similac (400g) Batch code 29266Z20 Best before 01 December 2022
- Elecare Similac (400g) Batch code 30374Z20 Best before 01 December 2022
- Alimentum Similac (400g) Batch code 27936Z26 Best before 01 March 2023
- Alimentum Similac (400g) Batch code 27937Z26 Best before 01 March 2023
- Alimentum Similac (400g) Batch code 29210Z20 Best before 01 May 2023
- Alimentum Similac (400g) Batch code 33688Z20 Best before 01 September 2023
- Alimentum Similac (400g) Batch code 32431Z20 Best before 01 October 2023
- Alimentum Similac (400g) Batch code 34929Z20 Best before 01 October 2023
No products distributed to Ireland have tested positive for the presence of Cronobacter sakazakii or Salmonella. Parents and guardians are advised not to feed the implicated batches to infants.
In case your infant is experiencing salmonella or Cronobacter symptoms, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance.
