Heinen’s of Warrensville Heights, OH is voluntarily recalling Heinen’s Fresh Ground Cashew Butter, due to the possibility that it may contain undeclared Peanuts or Almonds. While no reports of injury have occurred, out of an abundance of caution people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to Peanuts or Almonds should avoid this product. Heinen’s Fresh Ground Cashew Butter was distributed in OH and in IL through Heinen’s retail Locations.
The containers are sold by weight, and the affected batch will have a UPC of 2-0953040773-4 and a Sell By Date of 08.27.23 No illnesses have been reported to date.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that product containing Peanuts or Almonds was distributed in Fresh Ground Cashew Butter Containers that did not reveal the presence of additional allergens. Subsequent investigation indicates that this was isolated to a single distributed Sell By Date of 8/27/23 If you have purchased this product, please return it to your local Heinen’s for a full refund.

The recalled product is:
- 16-oz. plastic trays containing “SISTER SISTER GENERAL TSO’S CHICKEN with FRIED RICE” and lot codes 11/07/23, 11/11/23, 11/17/23, 11/18/23, or 11/19/23 represented on the label.
The affected product was produced on various dates between Oct. 27 and Nov. 8, 2023, and bears establishment number “P-754” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The problem was discovered by FSIS inspection personnel during a verification task where they discovered that sesame oil was not included on the label.
FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
All GHGA fresh-cut fruit products associated with the recalled whole cantaloupe associated with the outbreak have expired, however, consumers who have purchased these items and may have frozen them for later use are urged not to consume the products and return the items to their local store for a full refund.
As of November 29, there have been no illnesses reported related to GHGA fresh-cut products. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), several illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the whole cantaloupe recalled by Sofia Produce, LLC dba Trufresh, however, as of November 29, no illnesses have been confirmed to be associated with GHGA products.
The products are packaged in clear square or round plastic containers, marked with a “sell by” date and a lot code on the label.
Voluntarily recalled items include the specific products, lot codes, and expiration dates below. No other products are affected.
