Maple Dale Cheese Co. cheese products - recalled due to Listeria

Canada

The CFAI announced the recall of Maple Dale Cheese Co cheese products due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. These products were sold in Alberta and Ontario.

The recalled products are:
- Maple Dale Cheese Co. Repress Aged Heat Treated White Cheddar, 40 lb, codes: VAT # 211197 22NO24, VAT # 211227 22NO24
- Maple Dale Cheese Co. Shredded 2 Year Old, 10 kg, codes: VAT # 201323 Best Before 23FE27

The company urges consumers not to use, sell, serve, or distribute the affected products. The recall applies to hotels, restaurants, institutions, and warehouses.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth. In severe cases of illness, people may die.

In case you are experiencing Listeria monocytogenes symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
