The Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation (MAPAQ), in collaboration with Épicerie antillais et casse-croûte Ében-Ézer are recalling Pam Pi Gou 100% Haitian seasoning becuase it has not been prepared and packaged in such a way as to ensure its safety. In fact, this product could promote the proliferation of the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. This product was offered for sale until July 5, 2023 at Épicerie antillais et casse-croûte Ében-Ézer, located at 125, rue Valmont, Repentigny. No illnesses have been reported to the MAPAQ to date.
The recalled product is:
- Pam Pi Gou 100% Haitian seasoning, 500 ml, Units sold until July 5, 2023. The product was packaged in a Mason jar and sold refrigerated. In addition to the product name, the label bore the words "PAM PI GOU".
If you have the recalled product in your home, please do not consume it. Please return it to the place of purchase.
Although the affected product does not show signs of spoilage or suspect odor, it could still be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum bacteria. Foods contaminated with this bacterium's toxin can cause the following symptoms when ingested: facial paralysis, unresponsive or fixed pupils, difficulty swallowing, drooping eyelids, blurred vision and slurred speech. In severe cases, the disease can cause death.

We bought a fruit basket that contained a cantaloup from a local organization. That's on October 25th. We served it to our 20 months old son, he loved it and ate the entire thing in two days. After a call to 811 (health line) we went straight to the emergency. There we waited 10 hours and he kept getting worse. He was on intravenous treatment for 10 days. Followed by 10 days of oral mega doses (8ml/3 times a day) for an additional 10 days. It was a hard time, and he still has so post traumatic reactions (doesn't like to be touched where the catheter was), and his digestion is not back to it's former state. We are simple thankful that it was caught in time. The fever started I bought a fruit basket on October 25. This one contained a cantaloupe. We cut it and served it to our 20-month-old son, who ate it over two days. Two days later, he started to have an interminent fever, and then diarrhea occurred. At first he seemed to keep his spirits up but then there was blood in his stool. From that moment on we were in the hospital and for 1 week I had to be on intravenous treatment. The battery was in his blood, he had septicemia. Once these were completed, he was prescribed a mega dose of antibiotic (8ml 3 times a day) for an additional 10 days. He was completely traumatized, so were we. His intestinal flora has not fully recovered, and he still has some post-traumatic reactions. The New York State Agriculture Commissioner announced the recall of Aviator's "Dried Tomato Halves" by S. Katzman Produce due to the presence of undeclared sulfites. The recalled product is Aviator brand "Dried Tomato Halves" sealed in a clear five-pound plastic bag and labeled with "Lot: 00923/1."
The recall situation emerged through routine testing by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets. Inspectors identified that the product contained high sulfite levels, previously unlisted on the product.
