Zara Food Dry Apricot - recalled due to undeclared sulfites

The New York’s Department of Agriculture and Markets announced the recall of 7 ounce packages of “Zara Food” brand Dry Apricot by NY Zara Food Inc. of Flushing, NY because they contained undeclared sulfites. This product was distributed in New York State in retail stores.The recalled “Zara Food” brand Dry Apricot comes in a 7 ounce, clear plastic package with “Best Before December 2022” stamped on the bottom. The product UPC code is 4565989963242.
No illnesses or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported to date. Consumers who have purchased this product are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Analysis of the “Zara Food” brand Dry Apricot revealed they contained 160.2 milligrams per serving.
