Ciguatera Poisoning from Grouper - Hotel, N.P

1 year ago reported by user-jdhx3718 business

Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas, Paradise Island, The Bahamas

N.P, The Bahamas

Hello, was in Bahamas at Atlantis on March break with my family. Day 2 got sick from eating the grouper fish which I believe I caught cigaterra poisoning. Was wanting to go to the hospital in Bahamas but people told me the health care system there is horrible so Came back to Canada seek medical attention was given IV hydration and meds to stop the spasms. Then I called my GI specialist which took a month to get an appointment. She did an endoscopy and colonoscopy. They took 5 biopsies from my stomach and colon. Result was I had a massive infection in my digestive tract. Been in and out of the hospital for almost 6 months now for hydration and anti spasm medication. This is unacceptable they should be taking these certain types of fish off the menu so people don’t have to go through this nightmare! Shame on anywhere that knows about this poisoning. I’m never eating any fish again in my life! Ever!. This is the location. Restaurant called Fish in the cove building | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Stomach Pain, Fever, Cramps, Chills, Headache
