Severe Salmonella, E. Coli - Beaches Turks & Caicos, The Bight Settlement Caicos Islands

My family and I traveled on July 4-10 2021. I immediately got diarrhea the very first night and it only got worse as the week went on. The day before we left I had to leave a beach party to go back and lay down. As soon as I got up I started sweating and felt sick to my stomach. I walked about 20 feet and had to lay down on the beach. It took about 30mins and I felt better. After arriving back home the next day I started feeling worse. You would think at this point I would have realized I got sick from the food/drinks. One week later I got so violently sick like I’ve never experienced in my 48 years. I developed a fever up to 104. I was shaking nonstop, got the worst headache with what felt like electric shocks all over my head. My body hurt all over. My husband took me to the ER and unfortunately I got a terrible doctor. He got on a Lyme’s disease track which is what he diagnosed me with. Gave me 2 Tylenol and sent me back home with 103 temp. The next day I went to see my doctor and he did all the bloodwork tests you can probably get. He called my husband as soon as the results came in and told him to get me back to the ER immediately. I had bacteria in my blood. After going back to the ER and running a ton more tests I was told I had the rarest and worst salmonella you can get AND E. coli in my blood. Nine horrible nights later and several IV antibiotics I was able to leave the hospital and continue my antibiotics at home. I would recommend NOT traveling to here!!! It’s not worth taking the chance on your health/life and spending that kind of money to go somewhere that they don’t regulate their food and drinks. I wish I would have investigated before instead of after. I’ve read so many stories of families getting so sick and seems as though Beaches just sweeps in under the rug. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Fever, Headache, Sweating, Body Ache, Shaking
