Honeymoon Sushi Sickness Suspected - Bocas del Toro, Bocas del Toro Province Bocas del Toro Province

Bocas del Toro, Bocas del Toro Province, Panama

Bocas del Toro Province, Bocas del Toro Province, Panama

My husband and I took a day trip into Bocas while on our honeymoon. We were excited to experience the culture and eat local foods. We each had a churro from a local vendor, lunch at Oh Toro (a sushi restaurant chain in Panama) and margaritas at La Pirata. My husband was the first to start feeling ill after returning to our resort a couple hours later and got diarrhea. I felt okay, just tired. Then a wave a nausea hit me a couple hours after my husband got sick. Realizing we probably had food poisoning, I finally decided to purge my system and went to the room to throw up. I felt a bit better but the next day I then was unable to eat or drink without it passing through my system almost Instantly. Other than the trips to the bathroom, I felt fine and was able to do pretty much everything unless it involved drinking/eating. We’re not sure which food ultimately made us sick, but we decided to avoid any food in town moving forward. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea
