Dominican Republic
Went to punta Cana in 2011. Was with a group of friends and I was the only one who got severely ill. Out of the blue at dinner I felt horrible. Instant vomiting and diarrhea. Was eventually admitted to the “hospital” later that night because I couldn’t move out of bed I thought i was going to die. The hospital wouldn’t treat me until I gave them a credit card where they charged $5000 for who knows what. I thankfully survived off of bottled water and Gatorade the rest of the trip and couldn’t wait to leave that dump of an island. My flight home was horrendous and the longest 4 hours of my life. I came back to USA and had to see gastric specialists and find other doctors to help with new stomach, thyroid and anxiety issues. I hate the DR and will Never ever go back to that place. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Fever, Nausea, Vomiting, Gas
