I bought a box of Lucky charms the second week in April. At some point within a week (I don’t recall the exact dates because it wasn’t important at the time) I got what I thought was a stomach bug going around (severe stomach pain and diarrhea). Never in a million years would have attributed it to Lucky Charms…..until now! Flash forward to this past Saturday (the night before Easter). I had been shopping/preparing for my Easter gathering ALL DAY, and never stopped to eat or drink anything. Decided before going to bed (around 1:00am, that I’d have a couple bowls of cereal to ward off that yucky stomach cramping you get when you wait too long to eat). Had an uncomfortable, restless night with “some” stomach discomfort in the morning, but chalked it up to eating on a very empty stomach. Woke up feeling very off…dull upper abdomen pain and severe nausea. Couldn’t muster up the ability to eat or drink anything all day, and by midnight (when our last guest left) I was ABSOLUTELY MISERABLE!!! Severe chronic abdominal pain that stayed constant with labor-like pains mixed in. The pain eventually went lower and around my back as well. Felt like I was going to throw up, but never could. Was shaky and just very off-feeling. Went to bed, pain kept me up all night. Spent from 9am Monday to 4:30am Tuesday on the couch. Couldn’t even get water down, as the pain it caused in my upper abdomen was so uncomfortable. It’s now 10:00am on Tuesday, and the pain is a bit less, the nausea is awful, and now my head/neck are throbbing and I’m dizzy and feel generally beat up. My husband heard about the Lucky Charms reports and let me know right away, as he knew I had eaten them just before getting so violently sick. I reached out to Lucky Charms directly, and was quite disheartened by their reply: “blah blah blah..we can’t find any link between these complaints and our product…blah blah blah…but we’d like to send you some vouchers for more Lucky Charms.” Umm…yeah….NO THANK YOU! They’ve got to be kidding! I’m never eating, purchasing or partaking in ANYTHING associated with Lucky Charms again.
