Resort Bar Drinks Illness - Majestic Elegance Punta Cana, Punta Cana La Altagracia

2014: My spouse and I went with friends attending a wedding there. We were greeted with a resort specialty drink called the Majestic. We had the same from a pool bar at the resort the next day. We went to dinner at a “French” restaurant within the resort. After returning to our room, I started vomiting, experiences abdominal pain, sweating, dizziness, and diarrhea. I was sick the rest of the week there.After we got home I ended up with fever over 104F, my fingers were cold and discolored, and I was fatigued and weak with a wt loss of 15-20lbs!
I ended up in the hospital with Sepsis affecting liver, lungs(Pneumonia), heart (CHF), urinary tract and kidney infection identified as ESBL.
The Infection Physician said if I waited much longer I would have died! I was inpatient almost a week then continued IV antibiotic treatment for 3 weeks after.
Many from the resort had various stages of the same symptoms, including the wedding party!
Most drank from the resort bars and ate from buffets in the resort.
I tell you this due to current reported deaths from illness in resorts in Punta Cana.
No one spoke English or tried to understand and accommodate needs at the resort. It was a horrible experience. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Fever, Nausea, Vomiting, Weakness, Dizziness, Fatigue, Sweating, Stomach Pain
