Milk turns rancid 7-10 days prior to use by date or expiration and has done so for over 2 years. I complain to store management regularly, even return milk 1/2 gal or gal. This also applies to fill circle organic milk sold there. I believe it has something to do with storage between milk producer, bottler, warehousing, trucking, and store storage behind the glass door displays for purchase. My refrigerator is consistently cold at 36° F.

Same problem at the Laguna Niguel store. Costco is always good at or past the sell-by date but not stater Brothers always at least a week before it turns chunky and bad
