I ordered a mushroom Swiss burger and a vanilla frozen custard about 4mos ago to go on my way home from work. I had been there many times previously but never since that incident. The same exact day my nieces boyfriend ordered the same burger and was... See More in the ER that night because of the same symptoms, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea. We were not together at the time of our purchases and there was at least a 3hr difference in time that we both purchased it from the same location here. I do not see him that often, so was unaware that the same thing happened to him until my mother told me about a week later. I have eaten there many times and it is one of my favorite places to eat, Howe I still cannot bring myself to stop there again. I will say that the burger did not taste as well as it normally did , although I cannot rell you the exact reason why,, and I did not finish eating it, throwing half of it away. I am only reporting this now because I never knew this page existed to write an incident about. Initially I thought I just had a stomach flu but am almost certain whatever was wrong with the burger that it did cause food poisoning after I heard a family acquaintance suffered the exact same symptoms. Those symptoms lasted 2 days for both of us, however I did not choose to go to the hospital. Just putting it in writing in case it occurred to anyone else. If you need to know the exact day, I'm sure I could get that from the other person that went to the hospital for hydration. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting See Less

The McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) and Huntley Community School District 158 announced the investigation of a recent outbreak of Shiga Toxin-Producing E. coli (STEC) at Huntley High School. There have been six confirmed cases of STEC, all involving students. The initial case was detected on... See More Sunday, September 17. To date, the origin of the illnesses is unknown. The MCDH is overseeing the situation for potential cases; no other STEC cases are known in McHenry County outside of this outbreak.
Officials from Huntley High School are collaborating with the MCDH, continuing their examination of possible exposures both inside and outside the school, since the source of the outbreak remains unidentified. Due to E. coli's highly contagious characteristics, students are urged to wash their hands regularly. The school has also adopted preemptive steps to maintain a secure environment, such as displaying handwashing signs around the school and installing hand sanitizer stations in every classroom and communal area.
To prevent and stop the spread of infection, the MCDH recommends washing hands with soap and water when preparing and eating food, having contact with animals or their environment, and after bathroom use or changing a diaper; avoiding swallowing water from ponds, lakes, and untreated swimming pools; and washing and cooking foods properly and avoid unpasteurized (raw) dairy products and juices. Those infected should not handle, prepare, or cook food for others until 48 hours after symptoms have resolved.
In case you are experiencing E. coli symptoms such as watery diarrhea (often bloody), vomiting; stomach cramps; and mild fever, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.

The FSIS announced the recall of approximately 58,281 pounds of ground beef products by American Foods Group, LLC, doing business as Green Bay Dressed Beef, LCC that may be contaminated with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) O103. The problem was discovered when FSIS was notified that a sample collected by a state public health partner tested positive for the presence of E. coli O103.
Clinical labs often don't test for non-O157 STEC like O103 due to its challenging identification. Symptoms of infection can appear 2-8 days after exposure, typically causing diarrhea, vomiting, and sometimes severe illness. Diagnosis involves stool sample testing, with treatment mainly focusing on rehydration and support; antibiotics are usually not recommended. While most recover within a week, a few may experience severe complications like Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS), more common in young children, older adults, and those with weakened immunity, characterized by bruising, pallor, and reduced urine output, requiring immediate medical attention for those with such symptoms.
Distributors and other customers who have purchased these products for further processing should not use them or further distribute them.
In case you are experiencing E. coli symptoms, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.

Their broccoli & tomato quiche. As I write this, it was yesterday. The only intake that was different from my partner. Post pandemic, we're careful about handling, sanitising etc. 100% it was the quiche. Lower abdominal cramps 8hrs after ingestion. SEVERE, doubled up. Emptied out 4 times... See More with cramping over 2 hours until it was just brown water. 'Dire' diarrhea. Subsequently short-slept. Weary the following day. I feel like the remaining half of this quiche should go for testing, the store reprimanded & fined, and I should have ALDI pay me at least a modern full days wage (circa £200) compensation, and a complimentary voucher, though I think this is just a reporting hub that won't yield a legit actioned result for the consumer. Following this report, and in an ideal world, ALDI's remaining batch of quiches would be immediately removed from that store. Imagine the consequences of an ill/elderly/infirm consumer suffering this poisoning. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Cramps See Less
