Crab Overindulgence: Stomach Woes - The Shack, Fort Walton Beach Florida

5 years ago reported by user-fgbw3164 business

The Shack, 104 Miracle Strip Pkwy SW, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548, United States

104 Miracle Strip Parkway Southwest, Fort Walton Beach, 32548 Florida, United States

I ate four pounds of crab in a 24 hour period at multiple restaurants. On my way home from the trip (a miserable 5.5 hour car ride), I started having stomach cramps that felt like impending diarrhea which were made worse by the vibration and movement of the car. I had to stop three times for diarrhea. The third time I stopped, I got an intense wave of nausea that made me nearly throw up in a McDonald's. I had to take Imodium multisymptom, chewable Pepto, and ended up resorting to an anticholinergic called dicyclomine just to be able to finish the car ride home. I ate here and another restaurant.

I honestly am not 100% sure what caused my sickness, but given the amount of crab legs I ate, it made me suspect it was that. The other foods I ate were pretty standard and normal for me. I usually don't exceed two pounds of crab, but I was determined to figure out my limit, haha. It's entirely possible that my body just wouldn't tolerate that amount of crab. Other people in my group are crab both times I did and neither of them got sick (but I did eat roughly twice as much as them). | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting, Cramps
