E. coli outbreak in Big Tribute Festival linked to Unknown Source

Four individuals have fallen ill with E. coli after attending the Big Tribute Festival, a music event held between Aberystwyth and Capel Bangor. The outbreak, confirmed by Public Health Wales (PHW), affected attendees of the summer festival, which hosted 5,000 people. The outbreak has been contained with no ongoing risk to the public.

The E. coli outbreak, linked to the Big Tribute Festival, was declared by PHW after confirming four cases. The festival organizers stated that they adhered to all environmental health requirements, including water testing and the removal of livestock prior to the event. PHW is investigating the source of the infection and has contacted ticket holders to participate in a survey.

The outbreak was discovered after several festival-goers reported symptoms consistent with E. coli infection. PHW's investigation revealed the presence of the O26 shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC), a bacterial infection that can cause severe health complications. The organization is preparing a report on the outbreak, which will be published in due course.
