E. coli Outbreak in Cache County, UT - Unknown source

1 year ago source ksl.com

Outbreak

Utah, United States

The Bear River Health Department is investigating an E. coli outbreak in Cache County, UT. To date, 6 cases have been reported to the Health department. The source of the infection has not yet been identified.

The health department, in conjunction with the state health department and the Utah State Laboratory, is actively investigating to establish any potential links between the reported cases and find the origin of the E. coli. Despite these reports, the health department assures that there is currently no risk to the general public, but encourages residents to maintain good hygiene, particularly with regards to handling and preparing food.

In case you are experiencing E. coli symptoms such as watery diarrhea (often bloody), vomiting; stomach cramps; and mild fever, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
