A norovirus outbreak is detected at Hawke's Bay Hospital. The District Health Board announced on Tuesday that 8 patients and 7 members of staff had come down with the virus. As a result, the 38-bed Assessment, Treatment, and Rehabilitation Unit (AT&R) had been put into lockdown as a precautionary measure to keep patients and staff safe by preventing the virus spreading through the hospital.
No other patients or ward staff were affected at this stage and hospital staff were remaining vigilant to keep it contained.
In case you experience vomiting, diarrhea, and nausea, report it now. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance.
