April 2018. We stayed for a week and on the last night we had dinner at a Japanese restaurant. I went back to the room around nine as we were leaving the next day. I was staying in a different building than they were and called the one girl at 4 in the morning out of desperation as I was vomiting and had diarrhea so bad I couldn’t stand. She came from her building and called a cart to take me to where they had what they referred to as a doctor. It was a room with no bathroom. I was on the floor throwing up in a garbage can and shaking violently. I asked for a blanket and they gave me a wet towel from under the air conditioner. She ( the pretend doctor ) gave me something but I was throwing up so violently. I knew I had to go to the hospital. My friend called a taxi but it never came and I finally just told them to call an ambulance. I went to the hospital in an ambulance. I got IV and two types of medicine. I have no idea what it was but they put it in my IV and the doctor said he thought with that I could make it back to the States. I was flying home that day and I was in a different airline than they were so I was alone. At ten am I took a taxi from the hospital to the resort. I had called my friend and the hotel allowed her to pack my things. I then took a shuttle to the airport. I don’t know how I even survived. It was a blistering 97 degrees and on a Saturday. I had extra tsa screening. I was barely standing. They brought me a chair on the jet bridge and kept asking if I was going to be able to go on the flight but I knew I had to get back to the states. It was by the Grace of god I made it home. On my layover in atlanta I literally couldn’t even stand in line to get a drink. I slept on the chairs. When I got back to Pennsylvania my daughter had to take me to the emergency room again where they gave me Morphene and Bactrim and promethazine and several things for diarrhea. I was off work for over a week. I still don’t know how I made it home but I still don’t feel like my body has recovered. I literally thought I was going to die in the DR. I didn’t realize that so many other people were also very sick at the same time and same resort. I was just reading an article that said there were ten reported falling Ill in 2018 and I decided I should share my story as I was also there in 2018. As a side note. I was 58 years old and hadn’t even had a doctor for 43 years. I was always the picture of health. Since then I have never felt like I fully recovered. As of May 23, 2023, 18 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella have been reported from 6... 9 sick people reported eating raw cookie dough from Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N’ Bake Pizza in the week before they got sick. Based on this information, Papa Murphy’s has temporarily stopped selling their raw chocolate chip cookie dough and raw S’mores bars dough. At least two sick people did not eat at Papa Murphy’s. Investigators are working to identify the contaminated ingredient in the raw cookie dough. The investigation is ongoing

CDC is advising people to check their refrigerator and freezer for these raw doughs and to throw any away. CDC always advises people not to eat raw cookie dough, unless it has a label indicating that it is safe to be eaten raw.
