Multistate Outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 Infections

The CDC, public health officials and the FDA are conducting an investigation on a multistate outbreak of E. coli O157:H7, where 17 people have been reported sick and 7 of these required hospitalizations. No deaths have bee reported to date. This investigation includes the seven people reported ill by the Maryland Department of Health.To date, the CDC advises consumers are not to eat Ready Pac Bistro® Bowl Chicken Caesar Salad, lot #255406963, “Best By” date Oct. 31, 2019. However, the investigation continues to identify the source of this outbreak as the ill people in other states have not reported eating this particular salad.
FDA advises people to consult their healthcare provider if they suspect that they have developed symptoms similar to the ones of an E. coli infection and to sanitize the cooking surfaces in order to prevent the spreading of foodborne illnesses.
