Norovirus outbreak in Spanish school

The Andalusian Government's Health and Consumer Affairs department is investigating a norovirus outbreak at CEIP Santiago Ramón y Cajal school in El Ejido, Almeria, Spain. Approximately 40 individuals have been affected by the virus.The outbreak, which was first detected on January 30, has primarily resulted in mild symptoms among those infected, including vomiting and diarrhea. Despite the outbreak, no hospital admissions have been necessary, according to Health department sources. The majority of those affected are children associated with the school.
The discovery of the outbreak came about through public health investigations following reports of vomiting and diarrhea. The school's canteen has continued to operate normally, in line with medical inspection guidelines. The Health and Consumer Affairs department is currently conducting further investigations and inspections to manage the situation.
