The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert for ready-to-eat (RTE) product labeled as birria-inspired beef soup due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen. The product labeled as birria-inspired beef soup may actually contain plant-based chicken noodle soup,... See More which contains sesame, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.T hese items were shipped to retail locations in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.
The RTE product labeled as birria-inspired beef soup that may contain plant-based chicken noodle soup were produced on November 18, 2023. The following product is subject to the public health alert:
- WHOLE FOODS MARKET KITCHENS Birria-Inspired Beef Soup with Hominy. 24-oz. plastic cups. “USE BY 01/02/24”. Lot code 11183. The top of the plastic cups may be labeled “WHOLE FOODS MARKET KITCHENS Plant-Based Chicken Noodle Soup MADE WITH PLANT-BASED PROTEIN. DOES NOT CONTAIN CHICKEN.”
The product subject to the public health alert bears the establishment number “EST. 18235” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The issue was discovered by the retailer after a store employee identified a case of RTE Plant-Based Chicken Noodle Soup product bearing the correct top label but incorrect front and back labels. FSIS is issuing this public health alert to ensure that consumers are aware that these products should not be consumed.
FSIS advises that these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. A recall was not requested because the products are no longer available for purchase.

The products are in a clear plastic wrap and marked with expiration dates of 11-28 thru 12-15 marked on the back of the packaging.

I just got AG1 delivered to Sydney, Australia. I used one, level scoop, as directed, with their scoop they provided. I mixed it with water in the bottle they provided. I looked up and found a reddit thread and for over a year people have been reporting the same symptoms. People with allergies get it worse. One guy ended up in hospital all day on IV Steriods! I contacted them and got a refund but the health and safety team said they don't see any liability on their part and no explanation to what the hell happened to me or everyone else reporting the same symptoms.
