Papa Johns Pizza, Mathis Drive, Dickson, TN, USA

2 years ago reported by user-wgmwy119

My father and mother in-law came into town for Easter weekend and since it was later in the day when they arrived on Friday we decided to have pizza delivered and make it easy. My wife and I were the only ones to eat some of the … See More
cheese sticks we ordered and everything was ok until about 10pm or 11pm that night, when my wife woke me up stating that she was in serious pain, and having continuous diarrhea and vomiting. She was noticeably weak and almost doubled-over from the pain in her stomach when she woke me. I got up and cared for her thru the night as these symptoms continued, with an increase in core temperature as time passed and came down with cold chills, she could not get warm and shivered for most of the night. I was still feeling ok in the morning, and then I began to have diarrhea. I brushed it off as that's all I would have, maybe from the grease of the cheese...later that day when my wife had stabilized enough to rest, I had left the house for a short bit, when it hit me as well. Nausea, serious stomach cramping and the feeling of being cold. I rushed home to begin my weekend of hell alongside my wife, I began to raise a fever myself and stomach cramping continued in severity, with continuous diarrhea. No vomiting for me, but constant feeling of nausea that would not go away. We both were in bed covered in blankets and the heat running attempting to get warm for the entire Saturday and Saturday night, we awoke Sunday to me finally able to move around a bit before becoming fatigued, my wife was still unable to move around the house with losing all strength. Her parents left early after traveling across country to see us that weekend, to allow us to rest. We continued to rest and hydrate, along with taking DayQuil to suppress the achiness that had remained and Advil for the headaches. Finally on Monday I was actually able to get up and go to work, my wife was still too weak and had to take off of work to continued recovering. By Monday evening we had both almost fully recovered, with only loss of appetite from fear and stomach queasiness remaining. I am not sure what was in or what contaminated the cheese sticks or the dipping sauce, but it was a horrible nightmare that stole a holiday weekend with family and a day of work away from my wife. It will be a long time before we order from here again...I can promise you that!  | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Fever, Headache, Chills, Fatigue, Loss of Appetite, Dehydration, Weakness
