The FSIS announced the recall of approximately 46,804 pounds of Siluriformes fish (catfish) by Otten’s Seafood Inc. because the products were produced, packed, and distributed without the benefit of federal inspection. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.The recalled products are:
- 30-lb. plastic bags and cardboard boxes containing “IQF Frozen Catfish Steaks Net Weight 30.00 LB” and have a shelf-life of one year.
- 30-lb. plastic bags and cardboard boxes containing “40 + Oz Fresh Catfish Whole Net Weight 30.00 LB” and have a shelf-life of one week if not frozen.
These items were produced from Jan. 25, 2021, through May 21, 2021, and were shipped to wholesale and retail locations in Illinois and Indiana.
FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. If you have the recalled products in your home, please throw them away or returned them to the place of purchase.
