Castle Importing, Inc. has voluntarily recalled its Classic Castle Brand cheese products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recall affects products distributed in California, Ohio, Connecticut, Florida, Texas, Washington, and Illinois.

The recall includes:
- Product: Classic Castle Brand Crumbled Cotija in sizes of 5.6 lbs (300/0.3oz), 7.5 lbs (300/0.4 oz), 20 lbs, and 5 lbs, with a total of 8,886 cases affected. Lot numbers are mentioned in the link below.
- Product: Classic Castle Brand Shredded Three Cheese Blend in sizes of 20 lbs and 5 lbs, with 667 cases affected and lot numbers affected are (23290, 23312, 23325, 23354, 23354, 23355, 24003, 24033)
The recall was initiated on February 5, 2024, and as of March 6, 2024, the recall is ongoing.

In case you are experiencing Listeria monocytogenes symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
