Ekoplaza Kokosolie Geurloos Organic Coconut Oil - recalled due to high glycidyl esters

The FSAI announced the recall of Ekoplaza Kokosolie Geurloos organic coconut oil due to the elevated level of glycidyl esters.The recalled products are:
- Ekoplaza Kokosolie Geurloos Organic Coconut Oil, 500 ml, best before date: 14-12-2023, batch code: LT21-005373, LT21-005564, BL 200-12
- Ekoplaza Kokosolie Geurloos Organic Coconut Oil, 2 L, best before date: 13-12-2023, batch code: LT21-005374, LT21-005406
Glycidyl fatty acid esters are food contaminants generated during the processing of edible oils and fats. Glycidyl fatty acid esters are converted to glycidol after consumption. Although the consumption of the contaminated product does not pose an acute risk to health, there may be health issues if there is continued consumption of glycidyl esters over a long period of time. Therefore, exposure to this substance needs to be minimized.
