The New York’s Department of Agriculture and Markets announced a recall of one pound packages of “Golden Natural Product” brand Fruit Compote Mix by Delicious Food Distributors Inc, of Brooklyn, NY because they contained undeclared sulfites. This product was distributed throughout New York City in retail stores.The recalled product is:
- “Golden Natural Product” brand Fruit Compote Mix, it comes in one pound clear plastic package marked with lot #GC006 and Best Before 2023 date on the back. The product UPC code is 4784002211119.
Consumers who have severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Analysis of the “Golden Natural Product” brand Fruit Compote Mix revealed they contained 45.51 milligrams per serving. No illnesses or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported to date.
