The FSAI announced the recall of certain batches of instant noodle products due to the presence of the unauthorized pesticide ethylene oxide. This pesticide is not authorized for use in food sold in the EU.The recalled products are:
- Hao Hao Sour-Hot Shrimp flavour Instant Noodle Dish (77g), best before: 24/09/2022, Country of origin: Vietnam
- Yato Seafood Flavour Instant Noodle Dish (120 g), best before: 30/11/2022, Country of origin: China
- Good Spare Ribs Flavour Instant Noodle Dish (56g), best before: 10/11/2022, Country of origin: Vietnam
Although the consumption of the contaminated product does not pose an acute risk to health, there may be health issues if there is continued consumption of ethylene oxide over a long period of time. Therefore, exposure to this substance needs to be minimised.
