Public Health Alert for Ineligible Beef Tallow Products Imported from Mexico

1 year ago source fsis.usda.gov

Round Valley, 85541 Arizona, United States

FSIS has issued a public health alert for beef tallow products imported illegally from Mexico. The products, not certified for U.S. export by the Mexican government, are deemed unfit for human consumption. The products were distributed to retail locations in Arizona.

The beef tallow products were not presented for mandatory import reinspection to FSIS, nor do they carry a certified establishment number on their packaging. These factors render the products ineligible for import into the U.S.

The products was packaged in 1-kg or 500-g bags labeled "INCA GRASA COMESTIBLE DE SEBO BOVINO" (edible fat from beef tallow).

FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ pantries or on retailers’ shelves. Retailers who have purchased the products are urged not to sell them. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be returned to the place of purchase.

If you or a loved one are harmed or experiencing any symptoms, it is important to report it. Reporting can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
