Recall notice

Safari Meats RTE Cured Meat Products - recalled due to lack of food safety controls

1 year ago source mpi.govt.nz

New Zealand

Safari Meats and SA Shop Limited is recalling all batches and dates of its Safari Meats brand Biltong, Cabanossi, Droëwors, and other ready-to-eat cured meat products. The recall is due to a lack of required food safety controls. The products are distributed at various retailers throughout New Zealand and online.

The recalled products include Babbellas Mix, Bacon Biltong, Biltong, Blades, Cabanossi, Chillibites, Dollars, Droëwors, Droëwors Gluten Free, Spicy Biltong, Sweetsticks, Venison Biltong, and Venison Droewors. All batches and dates are included. The products are sold in various weights and have not been exported.

The issue was discovered during routine checks by the company. Reports of illness related to these products have been received and are currently under investigation by New Zealand Food Safety.

Affected products should not be consumed and customers are advised to return the products to their retailer for a full refund.

If you are experiencing symptoms after eating this product it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist seek medical attention.
