Update September 23rd, 2025:
Southwind Foods, LLC has issued a new update regarding its ongoing recall of select frozen shrimp products due to possible radionuclide (Cesium-137) contamination.

Key Updates:

- Distribution Window Expanded: Products were distributed between June 24 and September 16, 2025 (previously July 17 and August 8, 2025).

- Expanded Distribution: Additional states are now included, bringing the total to 30+ states across the U.S: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

- Health Risk Clarification: The company emphasized that Cs-137 is a man-made radioisotope of cesium. Long-term, repeated low-dose exposure may increase cancer risk due to DNA damage, although no illnesses have been reported to date.

Southwind Foods, LLC is voluntarily recalling a limited quantity of Frozen Shrimp, due to possible radionuclide (Cesium-137) contamination. The bagged, frozen shrimp product was distributed between July 17 and August 8, 2025 to retailers, distributors, and wholesalers in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, and Washington state i the United States.
